The victory keeps the 24th-ranked Mules undefeated at 9-0 and was their 21st straight win at home, breaking the record set five years ago.
Muhlenberg trailed, 50-42, with 1:59 left in regulation but rallied to force overtime by scoring the final eight points on a three-pointer by Wright, two free throws by Lauren Boyle and a three-pointer by Abra Like with 22 seconds on the clock.
The Crusaders (6-2) took a 61-58 lead with 45 seconds left in overtime on Nikki Smith’s layup off a steal, but once again the Mules hit a clutch three-pointer, this time by Boyle, to knot the score. Susquehanna turned the ball over on an attempted lob pass on its next possession, setting the stage for McSherry’s winning bucket.
Smith's desperation three-pointer from near halfcourt hit the backboard at the buzzer.
Boyle led all scorers with 21 points, while a trio of Mules – Wright, Like and Meghan Courtney – scored 11 apiece. Courtney also pulled down a game-high 15 rebounds.
Ruth Williamson scored 17 for the Crusaders. Jen Clark (11) and Sarah Jane Kalejta (10) also scored in double figures.
