Cuff finished with 11 points and eight rebounds while Josh Robinson added a game-high 23 points and 10 rebounds as the Crusaders (5-2) recovered after squandering a 20-point first-half lead.
Vinny Baumunk led the Cougars (3-5) with 19 points while Tony Rezykowski added 15 points and six assists for Misericordia, which forced the Crusaders into 24 turnovers to keep the game close despite being outrebounded 53-35 by Susquehanna.
In the overtime, the Crusaders scored the first two points before Misericordia took its first lead since 2-0 on two free throws by Rezykowski and a layup by Baumunk, the latter with 2:15 left to give the Cougars a 65-63 lead.
Robinson hit two foul shots with 2:03 to go to knot the game at 65-65, then after an exchange of missed shots Brad Okonak drilled a three-pointer from the top of the key to give Susquehanna a 68-65 lead with 43.4 seconds left. Okonak finished with 14 points and seven rebounds for the Crusaders.
However, Baumunk answered with a three-pointer to even the game at 68-68 with 29.2 remaining, setting up Cuff’s game-winner. Evan Donegan’s desperation heave from midcourt clanged off the rim at the buzzer.
Susquehanna led 39-22 with 17:30 remaining, but the Cougars, who had overcome a 31-point second-half deficit in an 88-81 win at Cabrini on Nov. 30, went on a 20-6 run to pull within 45-42 with 8:52 left.
The Crusaders answered with seven straight points to move ahead 52-42 with 6:07 remaining, and after the Cougars crept within 52-47 with 5:03 left, Susquehanna tallied six straight points on two foul shots by Zac Smith, a putback by Brandon Andersen and a breakaway dunk by Robinson to extend their advantage to 58-47 with 3:41 to play.
Misericordia would not go away quietly, as Rezykowski capped a 12-1 Cougar run with a three-pointer with 1:44 left to tie the game at 59-59. After Robinson and Josh McCabe each hit a pair of foul shots to retie the game at 61-61 with 1:05 to play, the Crusaders misfired on the potential go-ahead shot with 21 seconds left. A buzzer-beater from 35 feet by the Cougars’ Marcus Little banked off glass and rim, sending the game to overtime.
The Crusaders dashed out to a 14-2 lead in the game’s first five minutes behind eight points from Robinson, and held a 21-5 advantage with 12:39 left in the first half.
Susquehanna’s largest lead was 20 points on two occasions, but the Cougars pulled within 37-22 at halftime as McCabe scored five points in the final 15 seconds, the final three coming at the buzzer.
Robinson led all players with 13 points in the first half while Okonak added nine points on 3-for-5 shooting from three-point range and Bryan Majors dished out nine assists on Susquehanna’s 13 field goals, which included a 9-for-16 performance from beyond the arc.
Meanwhile, the Cougars connected on just 28.1 percent (9-for-32) from the field in the first half and were led by eight points from Rezykowski.
