BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Bowdoin College women\'s basketball team outscored Smith College 53-14 in the second half to cruise to a 98-51 win in the Polar Bears\' season-opener on Saturday.

Bowdoin, ranked second in the latest national poll, extended the nation\'s longest home-court winning streak to 71 games. Smith falls to 0-2 this season with the loss.

Every Bowdoin player scored as the hosts connected on 56% from the field. Eileen Flahety led the squad with 18 points and six rebounds, while Katie Cummings scored 11 points with six assists and five steals. Jill Anelauskas also reached double figures with ten points.

Smith was led by 15 points from Berit Schelde. Smith was able to stay close in the opening half thanks to 60% shooting, including 5-6 on three-pointers. The Polar Bears led 45-37 at intermission, and forced 30 turnovers in the victory.
