Linfield 85, Whitman 74

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Leigh Henderson led a balanced attack with 11 points as Susquehanna University defeated Penn College 62-22 in non-conference women’s basketball action at O.W. Houts Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

Four other players finished with eight points as the Crusaders (5-1) overcame 28.2 percent shooting from the field by forcing the Wildcats (0-3) into 40 turnovers, as Susquehanna improved to 4-0 at home this season.

Henderson went 4-for-4 from the foul line and also added three rebounds as Susquehanna shot 15-for-16 from the stripe and led by double figures for the final 29 minutes of the contest.

Amanda Ault led the Wildcats with 13 points and a game-high 15 rebounds, but Penn College shot 26.3 percent (10-for-38) from the field in the contest as a team.

Crystal Schneck scored eight points, grabbed four rebounds and made four of the Crusaders’ 25 steals on the evening, while Samantha Jansson finished 6-for-6 from the line and tallied eight points and four rebounds.

Susquehanna led 29-9 at halftime despite shooting just 20.5 percent (9-for-44) from the field in the opening half, by taking advantage of 25 Penn College turnovers. Jansson led the Crusaders with six points while Ault paced the Wildcats with five points and a game-high eight rebounds in the first half.

Courtney Thibeault also scored eight points for the Crusaders as did Meg Loughran, while Nikki Smith tallied five points, five rebounds and four steals in just 13 minutes of action and Erin Gosekamp added four points and five boards for Susquehanna.
