CHESTER, Pa. — Sophomore Megan Sipple scored 15 points for the second straight game, but Widener was dealt a 68-47 Commonwealth Conference setback by Albright at Schwartz Center.

Jacqueline Hardwick netted six points during a 9-2 run, helping Albright to a 28-13 lead with 2:40 remaining. She ended the first half with 14 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Lions (9-5, 2-1 CC), who grabbed a 30-17 cushion by holding the Pride to just 24 percent shooting (6-of-25).

Widener (6-8, 0-3) would not go away as freshman Rayne Reber nailed a jumper with 13:49 to play, moving the home team within 41-33. But Albright used a 7-0 run late in the contest, including a 3-pointer from Annie McMahon for a 60-42 game with 4:41 left.

Hardwick closed with 18 points on 8-of-16 shooting and 11 rebounds for Albright, which notched a commanding 53-32 rebounding edge. It marked only the third time all season Widener was outrebounded.

Staci Waligorski had 16 points on 8-of-10 shooting and eight rebounds, Charlotte Ciccone ended with 12 points and nine rebounds, and McMahon contributed 12 and seven with three 3-pointers.

Sipple reached double figures in scoring for the sixth time in eight contests, vaulting to second on the squad with 10.8 points per contest. Reber poured in eight points and junior Stephanie Bixby hauled in 10 rebounds for Widener, which shot only 33 percent (16-of-48) from the field.

Widener is home Saturday against Susquehanna as part of a doubleheader with the men’s team. The women’s game starts at 1:00 pm, followed by the men’s contest at 3:00 pm.
