SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Courtney Thibeault led a balanced Susquehanna attack with 12 points as the Crusaders defeated Randolph-Macon Woman\'s College 77-40 in the opening round of the Pepsi/Weis Markets Tip-Off Tournament at O.W. Houts Gymnasium on Saturday evening.

Thibeault shot 5-for-9 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers, as the Crusaders (1-0) won their 16 th consecutive season opener and advanced to Sunday\'s championship game against Mary Baldwin, a 69-56 winner over Marywood in Saturday\'s opener.

Jen Clark added 11 points as no starter played more than 18 minutes in the game, with the Crusaders building a 37-19 halftime lead and leading by as many as 44 points in the second half.

Sarah Jane Kalejta added a team and career-high nine rebounds to go with six points for the Crusaders, while Val Houseal led the Susquehanna reserves with eight points.

Susquehanna (1-0) never trailed in the contest, using an 11-0 run in the game\'s opening minutes to take a 13-2 lead just 3:30 into the game, and led by as many as 21 points at 26-5 in the first half. A 20-7 second-half run pushed the Crusader lead to 77-33 with 1:15 remaining before the Wildcats (0-1) scored the final seven points.

Crystal Schneck added six points and a game-high six steals for the Crusaders, who forced Randolph-Macon Woman\'s into 28 turnovers. Nikki Smith added five points and six rebounds for the Crusaders while Ruth Williamson finished with seven points and three rebounds.

Sam Schaffstall led the Wildcats with 13 points and 10 rebounds, as Randolph-Macon Woman\'s shot just 24.5 percent (12-for-49) from the field and was outrebounded by Susquehanna 43-35.

In the opener, Jessica Carter scored 22 points while Kara Hawkins grabbed 19 rebounds to lead Mary Baldwin to the victory over Marywood. Amanda Lass led the Pacers with 16 points and nine rebounds.
