SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Nicki Lobach finished with a game-high 21 points while Ashley Brooks added 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocked shots as sixth-ranked Messiah College won its 13th consecutive game by defeating Susquehanna University 52-41 in Commonwealth Conference women's basketball action at O.W. Houts Gymnasium on Wednesday night.

Lobach finished 7-for-12 from the field and 7-for-10 from the foul line while Brooks hit all four of her field-goal attempts and 5-for-6 at the stripe as the Falcons (15-1 overall, 5-0 Commonwealth) shot 44.7 percent (17-for-38) from the field in the game as a team.

Jen Clark led the Crusaders in scoring for the fourth consecutive game with 10 points and seven rebounds, but Susquehanna (11-5 overall, 2-3 Commonwealth) shot 26.5 percent (13-for-49) as a team.

In a low-scoring first half, the Crusaders' only lead came at 4-3 on two foul shots by Courtney Thibeault with 14:24 left in the half. Messiah led by as many as nine points in the half and took a 27-19 lead to intermission behind 14 points by Lobach.

The Falcons took what would be their largest lead of the game at 31-19 with 18:47 to go on a jumper by Sarah Ringer, but the Crusaders battled back to within 37-32 on a three-pointer by Sarah Jane Kalejta with 10:42 remaining.

However, three straight baskets by Brooks and a foul shot by Lobach pushed the Messiah lead to 44-32 with 4:15 remaining, and Susquehanna would get no closer than eight points the rest of the way as the Falcons went 8-for-13 from the foul line in the final two minutes.

Thibeault added nine points and three steals for the Crusaders while Kalejta finished with eight points and four rebounds for Susquehanna.

Messiah finished with a 37-29 edge in rebounding and blocked 10 Susquehanna shots, but the Falcons committed 19 turnovers compared to 15 by the Crusaders.
