Edgewood 70, Maranatha Baptist 59

SALISBURY, Md. — The Salisbury University women’s basketball team used a strong second half effort to defeat Wesley College, 63-59, Tuesday night at the Maggs Center. Meghan Phillips scored a game high 15 points and pulled down seven rebounds to lead the Sea Gulls.

Salisbury (2-1) trailed by 11 at halftime but outscored Wesley (0-4) 32-17 in the second half en route to the win.

Victoria Lawson dropped eight points and added three assists while Jenna Peters forced five turnovers and scored five points.

As a team, Salisbury grabbed 40 rebounds to Wesley’s 33 and forced the Wolverines into 30 turnovers.

Jessica Mills scored in double figures for the third consecutive game as she added 11 points.

Domonique Barrett and Shirelle Tingle scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, for Wesley.

Salisbury’s defense held Wesley to 30% shooting in the second half while the Sea Gulls shot for 34% for the game.

The Sea Gulls will return to action on Tuesday, November 28 as they travel Frederick, Md. to face Hood College at 6 p.m.
