ROSEMONT WINS SECOND STRAIGHT AT LANCASTER BIBLE
Rosemont rode a team effort to defeat the Lancaster Bible College Chargers by a final score of 59-31 in a non-conference match-up. The win is the second consecutive for Rosemont, improving their overall record to 7-10.
The Ramblers set the early pace in the game, opening up with a 6-0 lead after less than two minutes were played, thanks in part to two baskets by sophomore Jordan Moon (Sanford School/Wilmington, DE). After Lancaster Bible called a time-out, the Chargers successfully fed the ball to junior Becky Martin (Lancaster Christian) for four straight baskets, pulling Lancaster into the lead at 8-6.
This time, it was Rosemont’s turn to call a time-out and to put together a run of their own. This run for Rosemont consisted of 14 points and was the decisive stretch of the game as the Ramblers not only grabbed back the lead, but led 20-8 by the time their string of points ended. Key to this run for the Ramblers was two consecutive three-point baskets by junior Andrea Boyle (Cardinal O’Hara/Swarthmore, PA). Rosemont outscored the Chargers 13-9 to close out the remainder the half to take a comfortable 33-17 lead into the locker room.
Midway through the second half, Lancaster Bible continued to keep pace in scoring with Rosemont after a three-point bucket by sophomore Stephanie Arnold (Living Word) made the score 43-26 in favor of the Ramblers. But from that point Rosemont outscored the Chargers 16-5 down the stretch to take away this decisive victory.
Co-leaders in scoring for the Ramblers were Andrea Boyle and Katie Linder (St. Basil Academy/Philadelphia, PA) with 14 points each. Cecelia Saunders (Phoenixville/Phoenixville, PA) scored a double-double for Rosemont, finishing with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Although Rosemont’s shooting percentage for the game was only 36% on 24/67 shooting, the Ramblers defense made things difficult for Lancaster Bible, who shot only 13/55 (24%) for the match. The Chargers turned over the ball a total of 27 times, compared to the 16 committed by the Ramblers. For Lancaster Bible, Becky Martin played a strong game, leading the Chargers in scoring with 14 points and six boards.
The Ramblers look to continue their momentum as they suit up for their next match on Saturday, January 27th, for a 1:00pm game at PAC rival Eastern University in St. Davids, PA. For all the latest updates and scores, please visit our website at www.rosemont.edu.
