The Blazers fall to 0-4 on the season while the Profs up their record to 3-2.
Hood hung with Rowan in the first half as Dana Shook’s three-pointer with 12:15 to play pulled the Blazers to within five, 16-11. But a fast-break layup by Rowan’s Susan Massara ignited a 23-2 run over a span of 7:17 to give the home team a 39-13 lead with just under five minutes to go in the half. The Profs led 49-22 at the break.
The Blazers were unable to cut into the Rowan advantage in the second half as the Profs continued to pressure Hood throughout the game, totaling 27 steals on the night.
Willison racked up game-highs in points (18) and rebounds (17) while Shook finished with a season-high 17 points including three three-pointers and five assists. Sara Hartlaub and Jessica Nease chipped in eight points apiece, Amanda Kinna finished with seven points and Brianna Raithel connected on her only field goal attempt of the game and grabbed four caroms.
Meanwhile, 12 of the 14 Profs to enter the game scored at least two points paced by Brynn DeGroff’s 14.
The Blazers have a pair of home games scheduled for next week. Hood hosts Catholic University Monday at 6 p.m. at Gambrill Gymnasium followed by a Dec. 9 date with Christopher Newport University at 3 p.m. at Thomas Johnson High School.
