PHOENIX, Ariz. — Sophomore forward Chris DeMarco scored a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds tonight (Thursday, December 28, 2006) as Edgewood (Wisc.) College defeated Baldwin-Wallace College, 72-64, in a semifinal game at the annual Cactus Hoop Jam Classic in Phoenix, Arizona. The loss ended a four-game Yellow Jacket winning streak.

With its win, Edgewood is now 5-4 overall and plays Simpson (Iowa) in Saturday's championship game. B-W is now 7-3 overall and will play Ramapo (N.J.) in the consolation game at 4:00 p.m. E.S.T.

In addition to DeMarco for Edgewood, senior guard Scott Kyle and junior forward Evan Klees each had 15 points and junior center Charlie Averkamp had 11 points. B-W was led by senior All-American forward Tori Davis with 19 points and 11 rebounds and sophomore guard Dennis Santiago had 11 points.

Keys to the Yellow Jacket loss were making just 21-of-67 shots from the floor for 31.3 percent, including five-of-22 three-pointers for 22.7 percent. The Yellow Jackets also were outrebounded, 46-37.

With his 19 points today, Davis now has 1,844 career points and surpassed Bob Walters (1959-63) to move into fifth place all-time. Davis now also has 799 career rebounds to rank ninth all-time and has a school career-record 205 blocked shots.

Following Saturday's consolation game, B-W returns to Berea and resumes rugged Ohio Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, January 3, 2007 when it travels to University Heights, Ohio to play Greater Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at 7:30 p.m. in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center
