POMONA, N.J. — A very long bus trip and a two and a half hour delay to the opening tipoff didn\'t deter the eighth-ranked University of Mary Washington women\'s basketball team from defeating host Richard Stockton College, 75-38, on Tuesday in Pomona, NJ. The Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season.
Senior Debbie Bruen scored 11 points and had a career-high seven steals, and sophomore Leigh Kampman scored 11 points and had four rebounds to pace a balanced Eagle attack, in which nine different players scored at least six points. Senior Lisa Tracy scored eight points and had five rebounds and five assists, and junior center Liz Hickey scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.
UMW shot 45% from the floor for the game, and made seven three pointers, while limiting the Osprey to just 32 field goal attempts, and forcing 30 turnovers.
The Eagles will host Shenandoah University on Monday, November 27 at 6 p.m. in the home opener.
