BROOKLYN, NY — Junior center OMAR ALSTON (Carteret / Carteret, NJ) scored 26 second-half points as Ramapo College defeated New York City College of Technology in their home opener, 91-73. The Roadrunners (5-0) dominated the backboard in the second half, outrebounding the Yellow Jackets, 28-10, easily erasing a three-point deficit at the break (38-35). Following a first half in which the home team shot 15-29 (52%) from the field, City Tech was held to 9-31 (29%) as compared to 24-35 (68%) for Ramapo.

City Tech (1-4) sophomore guard JAMAAL HALL (Banneker / Brooklyn, NY) was outstanding in defeat with game-highs of 32 points and seven assists, while playing all 40 minutes of the game. Senior swingman OTIS SAYLEE (Seward Park / New York, NY) added 16 points, while fellow senior KAREEM HANLEY (Canarsie / Brooklyn, NY) chipped in with 12 points and three assists. Sophomore forward ISSAKA YAYA (Lehman / Bronx, NY) scored ten points for Tech. Sophomore forward KEVIN HALL (Madison / Brooklyn, NY) led the Yellow Jackets with eight rebounds.

Ramapo’s Alston was the only player in the game with double-digit rebounds, leading the way with 13. Junior guard AHMAD MOSBY (St. Anthony / Jersey City, NJ) notched 18 points for the Roadrunners. He was followed by senior guard ANTOINE PRYOR (St. Patrick / Elizabeth, NJ) with 11 points and senior guard JOHN WOJCIK (Sayreville / Sayreville, NJ) with 10 points.

New York City Tech will take a five-day break before opening up the CUNY Athletic Conference schedule with a road tilt at the College of Staten Island on Tuesday night, December 5th (7:30 pm). Ramapo will play at NJAC rival Kean University on Saturday, December 2nd at 3:00 pm.
