The Bearcats finish undefeated (13-0) for the second consecutive season in conference play and will start the conference tournament as the # 1 seed on Saturday, February 17, at tournament host CCNY.
A schedule of tournament match ups will be available later this weekend, pending several conference games to be played.
The rivalry game was tied (10-10) early with 13:47 left, but the Bearcats (18-7) went on a dominant 35-12 run to comfortably lead 45-22 at intermission.
The start of the second half began with seven straight points by the visiting Bearcats, and they easily cruised to finish with their biggest margin of victory (35) against Hunter College in women’s basketball.
Seniors Ally Stamatiades (Astoria, N.Y./W.C. Bryant) and Racquel Reid (Bronx, N.Y./Washington Irving) each scored 14 points to lead the offensive attack.
Chiresse Paradise (Chicago, III./Seaside) scored 13 points, Jody Trapp (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) had 12 points, and Dominique McClendon notched another double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds to round out the double-figure scorers.
Karlee Whipple (Lund, Nevada/Lund) contributed nine points.
Lindsay Meltzer (Woodhaven, NY / Francis Lewis) led the Hunter Hawks (12-12, 8-5) with 11 points, five rebounds, and six assists.
