The victory improves the Bearcats to 5-2 in CUNYAC and 7-10 overall, while the Dolphins drop to 3-3 in CUNYAC and 6-10 on the season.
The visitors led throughout the entire first half to build a 34-27 halftime advantage and started the second half with a three-pointer by Kyle Yocum (Washingtonville, N.J./Washingtonville, N.J.) to go up by 10 points (37-27).
The Bearcats responded with eight consecutive points, highlighted with a pair of layups by Phil Schatz (Middle Village, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy), to get as close 39-37 four minutes later.
Both teams then exchanged several leads, but the Bearcats ended the final 5:24 of the game with a 21-8 run to pull away for the victory.
Adrian Serrano (Brooklyn, N.Y./Christ the King) and Ben Crane (Spring Valley, N.Y./Spring Valley) started the game-ending run with back-to-back three pointers, and Carl Emengo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Canarsie) went a perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line down the stretch to clinch the victory.
Emengo led all Bearcats with 19 points (10-12 FT) and a season-high 11 assists, while Schatz recorded 14 points and five rebounds. Brian Forrestal (New York N.Y./St. Agnes Boys) and Arki Wisnu (New York, N.Y./Newtown) each scored 10 points.
The Bearcats recorded 27 baskets on 21 assists, and scored 18 points off of 19 turnovers by the visitors.
Sean Weismuller (Brooklyn, N.Y./James Madison) led the Dolphins with 20 points and seven rebounds.
