The victory improves Baruch's record to 5-9 overall and 3-2 in CUNYAC, while the Yellow Jackets drop to 3-10 overall and 2-3 in CUNYAC.
The Bearcats led throughout most of the first half to build a 30-25 halftime, but the Yellow Jackets scored the first 13 points of the second half to lead 38-30 with 15:20 left.
The Bearcats responded in the next four minutes to tie the game at 40, and Ben Crane (Spring Valley, N.Y./Spring Valley) kept the run going with a key three-pointer for 48-43 advantage.
The Yellow Jackets could not get any closer the rest of the way as lead grew as big as 10 points (59-49) with one minute remaining.
Carl Emengo led the visiting Bearcats with 20 points and six rebounds, while Phil Schatz (Middle Village, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) and Laurence Smith (Harlem, N.Y./Frederick Douglass) each scored 11 points. Schatz also grabbed 16 rebounds in a solid effort in the paint all evening.
Ryan Phillips (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) led the home side with a double-double of 18 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.
The Bearcats will continue their conference schedule this Friday night at home against Brooklyn College.Tip off in the ARC Arena is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
