Clark (5-3) will play NYU (8-0), an 85-55 winner over SUNY Old Westbury in the Tournament’s other first-round game, for the championship at 4 pm on Saturday.
Baruch, which was led by Carl Emengo’s (Brooklyn, N.Y./Canarsie) career-high 36 points, will face Old Westbury in the third-place contest at 2 pm.
In a game that featured 18 lead changes and 13 ties, Baruch had two chances to steal the victory from Clark.
First, a three-point attempt by Emengo clanged off the rim with six seconds left. A short shot by Phil Schatz (Middle Village, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) bounced off the iron just before time expired.
Clark trailed 49-37 with 18:13 remaining after Emengo converted a lay-up, but used its depth (10 players scored) and three-point shooting (13-37, 35.1%) to climb back into the game.
Dominique Beck led Clark with 18 points, five rebounds and four steals, while Alexander contributed 16 off the bench.
Schatz finished with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
