The Bearcats (1-1), which struggled to score 41 points on Saturday against SUNY-Brockport, scored 35 points in the first half and 54 points in the second half for the 24-point victory against Lynchburg (0-2).
The team finished shooting 44 percent (30-68) from the field, and outscored Lynchburg in the paint (40-16), despite a taller height advantage by their southern opponents.
Senior forward Racquel Reid (New York, N.Y./Washington Irving) had a solid game with 25 points, including 9-of-11 from the free throw line.
Junior center Dominique McClendon (Chicago, III./Seaside) had a terrific all-around game with 19 points, 15 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
Junior guard Karlee Whipple (Lund, Nevada/Lund) scored 21 points on 9-of-13 shooting, including four steals on the defensive end.
Senior point guard Jody Trapp (New Rochelle, N.Y./New Rochelle) ran the offense with 10 points and a career-high 12 assists.
Lynchburg was led by Tamara Snead (Richmond, VA/Henrico) with 12 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks.
The women\'s basketball team will return to action this Tuesday with a non-conference road game against SUNY-Farmingdale at 7:00 p.m.
