Olivet went on a 9-0 run to start the game - and by all appearances it looked to be a long day for the Maroon and Cream. But when freshman forward Megan Hoblet entered the game midway through the first half, she brought a spark of energy to the floor that the Scots had been missing. Hoblet would score nine points in the first half and grab six boards in just eight game-changing minutes of play, lifting the Scots to a halftime advantage.
But the Comets adjusted for Hoblet at halftime and limited her to just five points in the second half and one rebound.
Heather Keenan stepped up late in the first half, however, with eight points and three assists in the first 20 minutes of play. Keenan changed the pace of the game to ensure the Scots had a halftime edge.
The second half saw the wheels come off as the Scots, who had held Olivet to just 32 percent shooting in the first, allowed them to shoot 52 percent in the second.
Heather Keenan led all scorers with 19 points, dishing out five assists and creating a steal to three turnovers. Ashley Matuzak had 15 points and six rebounds with four turnovers and two assists.
For the Comets, Stephanie Smith was 4-for-9 shooting, going 3-of-7 from three point range with 17 points and four rebounds. Audrey Graham added 14 points and Courtney Ivan 10 in the Comet win.
Alma returns to action Wednesday when it hosts Hope College at 7:30 p.m.
