Nov. 18 – Meadville, Pa. — After defeating Washington & Jefferson in the first day of the West Penn Classic, the Carnegie Mellon men’s basketball team defeated Grove City College 70-52. The Wolverines jumped out to an early 9-2 lead with 16:17 to play in the first. The Tartans would counter the Wolverines run with a 15-3 run over the next 4:42 to take a 17-12 lead halfway through the half. Carnegie Mellon would stay in control of the game, as they headed into the locker room with a 32-22 lead.

The second half started the same as the first ended with the Tartans taking control of the game. Grove City would cut the lead to six with 14 minutes to play, but that is as close as they would get.

Leading the way for the Tartans was sophomore Ryan Einwag with 11 points. The Tartans had a tremendous showing from their bench as sophomores Jon Wolleben (11) and Rob Pearson (7) along with freshman Jack Anderson (10) combined for 28 points with all recording career highs. Pearson continued his career-high evening hauling in 13 rebounds and recording five blocks. Junior Geoff Kozak was the other Tartans in double digits registering ten points.
