CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — Junior forward Dora Enright (Longmont, Colo.) was named the Most Valuable Player of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Tip-Off Tournament as she scored 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in leading the Stevens Institute of Technology women’s basketball team to a 62-49 victory over MIT in the championship game on Saturday in Cambridge, Mass. Enright, who shot 10-for-15 from the field in the game, was joined on the all-tournament team by freshman forward Brittany Fuller (East Rockaway, N.Y.).

For the second straight game, Stevens (2-0) did not trail at any point in the contest. The Ducks came out strong and scored eight unanswered points in the opening 3:50 to take an early lead. Fuller and Enright had two baskets apiece during the run. With the Ducks leading 25-21 late in the first half, Fuller drained a three-pointer to open a seven-point advantage. Stevens held MIT (1-1) scoreless over the final 3:01 of the period to take a 28-21 lead into the locker room.

The Ducks put the game away early in the second half with an 11-4 run in the span of 3:53. Enright started and finished the spurt with baskets. Junior guard/forward Kelsea Wilks (El Sobrante, Calif.) drained an important three-pointer for Stevens as the Ducks grabbed a 39-25 lead with 16:07 left to play. From that point on, Stevens maintained at least an 11-point cushion for the remainder of the game. The Ducks led by as many as 22 points (60-38) with just over four minutes to go.

Fuller finished with 15 points and five rebounds. Sophomore guard Dani Dudek (Rockaway, N.J.) had 10 points, five rebounds, five steals and four assists. She was 4-for-9 from the floor in the game. Wilks was 3-for-6 from downtown for nine points.

Senior forward Christa Margossian (Revere, Mass.) led the Engineers with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She was named to the all-tournament team after making five of seven shots in the title game. Sophomore guard Alice Yeh (Bellevue, Wash.) collected 11 points and was 3-for-3 from behind the arc in only eight minutes of action.

Stevens out-rebounded MIT 37-28 in the game. The Ducks also forced 20 turnovers by the Engineers.

Coming up on Tuesday, Stevens will play its home-opener against Fairleigh Dickinson University. That game will be carried live at www.duckcast.com starting at 7 p.m.
