Throggs Neck, N.Y. — The Farmingdale State men's basketball team improved to 8-3, 4-0 in the Skyline after a 77-62 victory over Maritime College (1-12, 0-4) tonight in Throggs Neck, NY. Sophomore guard Damien Santana (Brooklyn, NY/Grady) notched 27 points for the Rams as he sunk 7-of-9 attempts from three-point range. As a team, Farmingdale shot 77.8 percent from behind the arc, setting a new team record for three-point percentage in a game, and made nine three's in the first to take a convincing 44-28 lead into the half.

The hot streak continued in the second, as the Rams knocked down five more three pointers, surging ahead for the 15-point conference win. Santana led the team in scoring, while two others finished in double digits. Senior guard Terry Menefee (Montgomery, AL/Shawnee Mission North) added 13 points and junior guard Peter Lipka (Shelton, CT/Shelton) finished with 11 points. Freshman guard Shane Denully (Bronx, NY/Our Saviour Lutheran) dished out a game-high seven assists, putting his season average at 4.1 per game.

For Maritime, junior forward Michael Stolberg (Bayside, NY/Holy Cross) posted 14 points and nine rebounds, sophomore forward Joseph Bracaglia (Jamaica, NY/Martin Van Buren) tallied 13 points and junior guard Lamar Fields (Bronx, NY/Rice) finished with 10 points.

The Rams will now host a game against the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday, January 13th. The game will be played at Nassau Community College at 4:00pm.
