Junior forward Dora Enright (Longmont, Colo.) contributed 10 points and 11 rebounds as Stevens won its fourth straight game. Freshman guard Sarah Gehring (Spokane, Wash.) finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Dani Dudek (Rockaway, N.J.) added eight rebounds, six assists and five points.
Mount Saint Vincent (11-8, 7-6 Skyline), which had won five of its last six games entering play on Monday, was led by a 16-point, four-rebound performance from freshman forward Courtney Heesemann (New Hyde Park, N.Y.). Freshman forward Karissa Koerner (Bay Shore, N.Y.) totaled nine points and three rebounds for the Dolphins.
After falling behind by as many as 10 points in the first half, Stevens carried a 27-24 lead into the locker room at the break. Leading 46-44 with less than six minutes to go in the second half, the Ducks put the game away with an 11-3 run over the span of 2:52. Freshman forward Allison Caroccia (Staten Island, N.Y.) got things started with a jumper. Matusiak followed with two free throws. Gehring scored the next five points for Stevens as she drained a three-pointer and canned a jumper from the left wing. Enright finished the run with two free throws as the Ducks went on top 57-47 with 3:04 remaining.
Stevens, which has won nine of 10 games, owned a 51-26 rebounding advantage in the game. The Ducks also made 17 free throws to just nine by Mount Saint Vincent.
Coming up on Wednesday, Stevens will hit the road to take on St. Joseph’s College at 6 p.m. in Patchogue, N.Y.
