The LadyJackets (2-9) never led in the game, but a 10-2 run midway through the second half pulled them to within eight points at 54-46. Unfortunately, the Big Reds (8-3) responded with their own 18-2 run to put the game away. The Jackets made their second half run based on some of their best shooting of the season. They made 14 of 28 second half shot attempts.
LETU senior Katrina Visina led the team with 12 points off the bench as she made 5-of-6 free throw attempts. Freshmen Kayla Kerns and Memrie Ferguson each added eight points in a losing effort.
Denison had four players score in double figures with Kristen Sheffield leading the way with 15 points. Carolyn Simpson, Caitlin Krupka and Leslie Marshall all scored at least 10 points while Tammy Hoch led all players with 12 rebounds. Ellen O’Brien dished out nine of the Big Reds’ 24 assists. Overall, Denison shot 47.8 percent from the field, made 7-of-22 three-point attempts and 5-of-8 free throw attempts. The Reds out rebounded the Jackets by a 50-26 margin.
