Sophomore guard Virgil Gray II (Elmwood Park, N.J.) led all scorers with 17 points. He added five rebounds and three steals in the game. Sophomore guard Anthony Passalacqua (Staten Island, N.Y.) contributed 14 points and three assists. Freshman guard Matt Higgins (Freehold, N.J.) had a career-high 12 points to go along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, junior forward Joseph Ayodele (Tempe, Ariz.) added 10 points and four rebounds off the bench. Junior guard Waleed Farid (Woodside, N.Y.) finished with 10 points, six assists and three rebounds. Senior guard Floyd Morris (East Windsor, N.J.) had a game-high seven assists.
Mount Saint Vincent (1-13, 0-6 Skyline) received a strong effort out of junior guard/forward Derek Charlton (Yonkers, N.Y.), who posted 16 points, five steals and four rebounds. Freshman forward Kevin Garlan (Jackson Heights, N.Y.) tallied 12 points and six rebounds. Freshman guard Lester Owens (Manalapan, N.J.) chipped in with 10 points and three rebounds.
Leading 12-7 just under six minutes into the game, Stevens scored eight straight points in the span of 84 seconds. Farid started things off with a three-pointer. Following a lay-up by Passalacqua, Gray drained a three-pointer to put the Ducks up 20-7 with 12:52 left in the period.
Stevens went on an 8-0 run over the final 2:06 of the first half to claim a 41-26 lead at the break. Freshman guard George Greco (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) knocked down a long-range shot to spark the Ducks. Gray followed with a three-pointer and breakaway dunk just before the end of the half.
The Ducks extended their lead to 50-30 just over three minutes into the second half as Farid scored on a lay-up. Stevens was able to maintain a double-digit lead throughout the remainder of the game and led by as many as 26 points.
For the game, Stevens shot 49.3 percent (33-for-67) from the floor. The Dolphins, who have lost 12 games in a row, connected on 22 of 56 (39.3 percent) field-goal attempts.
The Ducks will be back in action on Thursday when they play at Yeshiva University at 8 p.m.
