SOUTH PADRE, Texas — In the South Padre Island Shootout hosted by Sport Tours International, Millsaps dropped its seventh-straight decision, falling to No. 11 Howard Payne 76-42 on Friday and Ramapo 54-50 Saturday afternoon.

Millsaps (1-8, 0-2 SCAC) proved to be no match for Howard Payne (9-0), with the Lady Jackets winning their ninth-consecutive game and seventh by 30 or more points.

Howard Payne took advantage of 26 bench points, 18 points off turnovers, 14 second chance points and 12 different scorers en route to the 34-point win.

Stacey Blalock led all scorers with 18 points in 22 minutes, while Meia Daniels chipped in with 15 points and a team-high five boards.

The Majors continue their struggles from the floor and the search to find a role player, as they couldn't overcome a 21-point halftime deficit and 28 percent shooting for the game.

Senior forward Deborah Sturgis led all Majors with 12 points on 4-of-11 shooting, while freshman guard Megan Bauerle had a season/career-high eight points in 14 minutes off the bench.

In Saturday's tournament closer for Millsaps, the Majors surrendered a 7-point halftime lead and shot 2-of-17 from beyond the arc to give the Roadrunners their second win of the season and first since Nov. 17.

Ramapo (2-7, 0-2 NJAC) was horrible from the floor in the first half, shooting a dismal 16 percent (5-of-31). The Roadrunners, however, rebounded in the second half to outscore the Majors 37-26 and shoot 39 percent, thanks in large part to Keona Palmer's eight points on 3-of-7 shooting.

With 3:18 remaining in the first half, LaReina Adams' layup gave the Majors a 19-17 advantage, a lead which they held for nearly 23 minutes and throughout the second half.

But with 58 seconds left in regulation, Palmer's lay in off Kelly Bartz's miss knotted the game at 50-50.

The Majors attempted to retake the lead with 43 seconds remaining, but senior Leslie Frese missed a layup that would have given Millsaps a two point advantage and then committed a foul to send Bartz to the free throw line.

Bartz missed the first and then swished in the second to give the Roadrunners a 51-50 edge, thus forcing the Majors to use a 30-second timeout.

After the timeout, two consecutive misses by Smith and Sturgis and back-to-back fouls by the pair allowed Ramapo to ice the game at the free throw line.

Adams picked up her fifth double-double of the season in the loss, chipping in 13 points and a team-high 15 rebounds (eight offensive), while Smith and Frese added 10 points apiece.

Junior Crystal Dickerson also had 11 boards as the Majors out rebounded the Roadrunners 55-46 for the game.

Millsaps looks to snap a seven-game losing skid next weekend, traveling to conference opponent Rhodes College on Jan. 6 and non-conference opponent Rust College on Jan. 8. Saturday's game tips off at 3 p.m., with Monday's contest slated for 5 p.m.

The Majors will then return home for a three-game homestand Jan. 10-14, playing host to the University of Dallas, Oglethorpe and Sewanee.
