The Lady Blues got off to a sloppy and sluggish start, and Carroll College took advantage by jumping out to a 24-9 lead halfway through the first frame. A Kristin Endress lay-up as time expired brought IC to within ten at the break.
Illinois College came out rejuvenated in the second half going on a 12-1 run capped by a Janelle Kuhn jumper. But the Lady Pioneers would respond with a 12-3 run of their own. CC fended off a late run by the Lady Blues, making their free throws down the stretch and prevailing 62-51, despite attempting almost half as many field goals (35) as IC (67). Carroll College was 29 of 35 from the free throw line in their 11th victory of the season.
Crystal Hoewisch made good on all nine free throw attempts as part of her game-high 17 points.
Lisa Imel had 11 for the Lady Blues in what was their sixth straight loss.
Carroll College (11-2, 6-0 MWC) will play host to Lake Forest College (9-2, 4-1) next Friday in Waukesha.
Illinois College (3-11, 1-6) will travel to Appleton, Wisconsin to battle the Lawrence University Vikings (7-5, 4-1) on Friday evening.
