While Stout (7-1, 2-1) managed to maintain a double-digit lead for nearly three-quarters of the contest, the Yellowjackets (2-4, 0-3) just kept hanging around, flirting with making a run at the ninth-ranked Blue Devils. Stout had as much as a 19 point lead in the first half as post players Dani Boese and Kelsey Duoss combined for 16 first half points and took a 36-20 lead into halftime. The Blue Devils also held the Yellowjackets' leading scorer, Katie Moench, to six first half points and allowed Superior to only shoot 23 percent.
It was a different story in the second half as Moench tickled the net for 21 second half points and the Yellowjackets shot 59.3 percent in the second stanza, cutting the lead to 70-63 with just under three minutes remaining. Free throws made by Stout in the final minutes proved to be the difference as the Blue Devils made 7-of-8 charity shots to hold the lead.
Moench led all scorers with 27 points and Carissa Nord contributed 17 points for the home team. Duoss finished the night with 21 points for Stout and Boese scored a career-high 15 points.
