Jenny McDermid scored five points in the run and Julia Hirssig added four points as Stout (16-3, 9-1) carried a 12 point lead, 34-22, into the locker room.
The two teams traded leads for much of the first half until Kelsey Duoss got the Blue Devils going with a bucket with eight minutes remaining in the half and Stout went on its first spurt of the game to take an eight point, 23-15 lead. Stout also scored from the free throw line, dropping in 12-of-20 first half charity shots.
In the teams' first meeting in November, the Blugolds enjoyed the advantage at the free throw line. The tide was turned in this one as Stout made 23-of-38 free throws and Eau Claire had two players foul out. Stout only had one player with three fouls and the Blugolds made 11-of-20 free throws.
Duoss led all scorers with 16 points and nine rebounds. Hirssig finished the night with 13 points.
Eau Claire, which did whittle the lead down to as little as six points, 43-37 midway through the second half, got 14 points from Heidi Arciszewski, 13 from Heather Witt and 12 from Ashley Anderson off the bench.
