Clarksville, Ark. — UCA Overpowers Eagles

The University of Central Arkansas held the Eagles to 28 percent shooting from the field en route to a 75-58 victory on Tuesday night at the Farris Center.

The Eagles (6-13) hit only 19-of-67 shots from the floor and UCA out rebounded Ozarks 55-41 on the night. The NCAA Division I Bears (8-14) held a 38-27 lead at intermission, but Ozarks kept it close late in the first half. Ted Beard hit a three-pointer with 5:37 left to make the score 27-21. The Bears, however, quickly established a 38-23 advantage over the next five minutes to build momentum going into halftime. UCA mounted a 57-32 advantage with 11:16 remaining in the contest using a variety of inside shots. Ozarks did cut the deficit to 65-48 when Craig Watters hit a three-pointer at the 6:31 mark. However, the Bears went on a 7-1 run to dash Ozarks’ hopes of a comeback.

The Eagles were led by Jeremy Clark's 14 points. Ted Beard had 10 points, highlighted by a 2-of-2 performance from the three-point line. Chris Clark and Clint McHenry had 5 rebounds apiece.

Ozarks will travel to Texas this weekend to face UT-Dallas on Thursday and UT-Tyler on Saturday in conference play.
