The Blue Devils (17-3, 10-1) pushed their WIAC lead to three games with five games left with the win over the second place Warhawks (13-6, 6-4) and extended their winning streak to nine games.
But it didn't look like two of the top teams in the conference in the beginning as turnovers and overall sloppy play dominated early play as Whitewater carried the lead throughout much of the first half. Stout got their first lead of the game with just over two minutes remaining in the half when Lindsey Geissler hit two free throws for a 22-21 lead.
Whitewater's Lindsey Buechner hit a layup to put the Warhawks up, 23-22, but Joanna Bird's free throw tied the score. Rachel Woolever drained two free throws to push Whitewater to a 25-23 lead. Stout's Julia Hirssig tied the score and Geissler gave the lead back to Stout with a pair of free throws. Emily Peters tied the score for Warhawks again, but Oeltjen dropped in a 3-pointer with 21 seconds left in the half to give Stout a 30-27 halftime lead.
The Blue Devils would not relinquish the lead again as Stout started the second half out on a 9-2 run, eventually pushing the lead out to as much as 17 points late in the game.
Geissler was the only other Blue Devil in double figures, scoring 10. Kelsey Duoss was held to only eight points, but collected nine rebounds and a school record 10 blocked shots.
Whitewater was led by Tiffany Morton with 15 points. Dana Thompson pulled down a game high 10 rebounds.
Stout held Whitewater to 26.6 percent shooting for the night, while the Blue Devils shot 43.8 percent (21-48), but 50 percent (11-22) in the second half.
