Stout (10-9, 3-8) squandered a strong first half by Jacob Nonemacher, who scored 16 first half points, had six rebounds and five blocked shots as the Warhawks (12-7, 5-5) went off on an 11-4 run to open the second half.
Stout, which shot only 18 percent in the second half, gave the Warhawks the lead, 43-41, with 14:10 left in the second half on two free throws by Jason Price. Eric Heisler knotted the score at 43 all with 13:18 remaining, but a Price jumper gave the Warhawks the lead right back. Nonemacher gave Stout their final lead of the game 15 seconds later on a dunk. Craig Anderson gave Whitewater the lead for good, 48-46, on a 3-pointer.
The Warhawks jumped out to as much as a 10 point lead a couple of times, but Stout did cut the lead to as little as four points, 63-59, with nine second left in the contest.
Nonemacher finished the game wth 18 points, 11 rebounds and a school record nine blocked shots. The Warhawks' Anthony Mlachnik led all scorers with 22 points and Kori Vernon added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jerrel Enerson-Matthews added 20 points for Stout, 11 in the second half.
Stout finished the game shooting 29 percent (20-69), while Whitewater didn't do much better, shooting 33.3 percent (19-57) for the game. The Warhawks drained 8-of-18 3-point shots.
