UW-Whitewater was defeated by UW-Oshkosh 65-60 Wednedsday evening at the Kolf Sports Center in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

Oshkosh led 33-27 at the half. Whitewater used a 8-0 run early in the second half to go up 39-37 at 15:23. The lead changed hands four times in the next two minutes, but a 10-2 run bys the Warhawks gave them a 51-44 lead at 9:56. The teams were tied 55-55, the ninth tie of the second half. Oshkosh doubled up Whitewater in the final 1:43, 10-5, with eight of those coming from the line and Jim Capelle (sr, Wisconsin Dells) making six free throws in that span.

Capelle led the Titans with 20 points, nine of those from the line where he went 9-9. Freshman guard D.J. Marsh (Bayside/Nicolet)added 16 points, with senior center Kerry Gibson (Jefferson) contributing 14 points, 9 rebounds and 6 blocked shots. Senior guard Giovanni Riley (Milwaukee/Marshall) had 16 points for the Warhawks, also adding team highs in assists with 4 and steals with 3. Fifteen of Riley's points came in the second half. Jason Price (jr, Milwaukee/Washington) added 11 points for UW-W.

Oshkosh went 22-25 from the free throw line, Whitewater was 5-8. Oshkosh also had a 40-30 rebound advantage.

The Warhawks are now 10-6 overall and 4-4 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-Oshkosh, ranked 12th by D3hoops.com, improves to 14-3 overall, and 6-2 in the WIAC.

UW-W's next game will be against Milwaukee School of Engeneering in Milwaukee, WI in Saturday, Janurary 20th starting at 4:00. THe next scheduled home game for the Warhawks is set for Saturday, February 3 at 1:00 with UW-Superior visiting the Williams Center. The February 3 game is part of Whitewater's Sports Extravaganza Day, where fans can purchase one ticket and attend men's basketball, women's basketball, men's tennis, women's and men's swimming, and wrestling events in the Williams Center complex for that one admission.
