MEN'S BASKETBALL ... Warhawks Top Carroll 93-81
Junior guard Jason Price scored 29 points, including nine three-pointers, to lead UW-Whitewater to a 93-81 win over Carroll College Thursday night in Kachel Gym in Williams Center in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
Price (Milwaukee/Washington) went 9-14 from beyond the arc, tied for the third most three's made in a game in the UW-W record book. The Warhawks made 14 three pointers, tied for fourth best in the record book.
Whitewater 54-41 at halftime. Carroll did not lead in the second half, and could not get closer than nine points. The Warhawks held a 68-47 lead at 14:58.
In addition to Price, Rob Perry (jr, F, Milwaukee/Dominican) and Andy Freund (sr, C, Wauwatosa/West) contributed 14 points apiece. Also in double figures were Anthony Mlachnik (sr, G, Muskego/Thomas More) chipped in with 13 and Cory Vernon (so, F, Madison/Memorial) had 10. Vernon was Whitewater's leading rebounder, with seven. Carroll was led by Ryan Mueller (jr, C) with 17 points.
Carroll hit 24-27 from the free throw line, but Whitewater also shot well, hitting 23-28.
Whitewater is now 6-4, and Carroll 4-6.
The Warhawks will play UW-Eau Claire Tuesday, January 2. The next home will be Saturday, January 6 at 1:00 with UW-River Falls visiting Kachel Gym in Williams Center.
