The win also gives UMHB head coach Ken DeWeese his 139th win with the Cru and makes him the winningest head coach in the history of the UMHB men’s basketball program. DeWeese has a 139-86 career record in nine years with the Cru and moves ahead of Richard Herbst’s 138 wins on the UMHB all-time wins list.
The Cru defense controlled the first half as UMHB opened with a 20-6 run. UMHB led 37-16 at halftime after shooting 56 per cent in the first half and held the Bulldogs to 22 per cent shooting. UMHB never led by less than 19 points in the second half and that came in the final minute of the game.
Neiman Ford led a balanced Cru scoring attack with 13 points and Tim Lytle came off the bench to add 11 points for UMHB. Every player on the UMHB roster scored in the game. Nate Walton led TLU with 18 points and he also grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. Tyler Wanek added 10 points for the Bulldogs.
The Cru will return to action with an ASC West Division road game on Saturday. The UMHB men will travel to Kerrville to take on Schreiner University in a 3:00 PM tip-off. The Cru will then return home to take on Concordia-Austin in a 7:30 PM start next Tuesday.
