The Cru trailed 49-42 at halftime after Schreiner shot 61 per cent from the field and three-point range and led by as many as 15 points. The Cru fought back and tied the game at 53 early in the second half. There would be five more ties before UMHB put the game away with a 14-0 run to take a 91-80 lead in the final seconds. UMHB shot 48 per cent from the field in the game while Schreiner finished at 48 per cent from the field and 54 per cent from beyond the arc. The Cru won the rebounding battle 38-26 and Ryan Burgart blocked five shots for UMHB.
Kevin Guyden led UMHB with a career-high 32-point performance and he scored 25 of those points in the second half. Matt Dickey also had a career day for the Cru with 22 points and 13 rebounds. Neiman Ford chipped in 19 points for UMHB. Richard Moore topped Schreiner with 22 points, Kevin Deans added 17 points and Jonathan Young added 15 for the Mountaineers.
The UMHB men will now return home to close out the regular season home schedule with three games next week. The Cru will host Concordia-Austin for a 7:30 PM start on Tuesday night. The UMHB men will then host Sul Ross State University for a 7:30 PM tip-off on Thursday night and will welcome Howard Payne University to the Mayborn Campus Center for a 3:00 PM start next Saturday.
