The Bees, now 3-4, got busy early, jumping out to an 8-0 advantage before the game was three minutes old. The Vikings then went on a 12-0 run of their own to take a 12-8 lead following a basket by junior Oliver Rorer with 13:52 left in the first half. The game remained even and with 9:19 before halftime the score was tied 18-18.
With a 15 point halftime advantage, St. Ambrose showed no sign of letting up in the second half in the first five minutes went on a 10-2 run to jump the lead to 47-24 with 15:38 left. The Bees put five players in double figures with guard Chris Washington leading the way with 14 points. St. Ambrose also held a huge 34-25 advantage in the rebounding department.
Rorer led Augustana in scoring with 17 points, fueled by an 11-12 performance from the free throw line. He was the only Viking in double figures. Nate Swetalla was the top rebounder with five.
Augustana shot .833 (15-18) from the free throw line but was a woeful .067 (1-15) from three point range.
