ST. PAUL, Minn. — St. Catherine improved to 11-5 overall and 8-5 in the MIAC by defeating host Macalester 66-45 Monday night. Ashley Busch led a very balanced Wildcat attack with 11 points to go along with four steals. Rachel Berglund and Brooke Hakanson added eight points each.

St. Catherine shot 46%, compared to 32% for Mac. The Wildcats knocked down nine three-pointers at a 53% clip (9-for-17).

The Scots led for much of the first 12 minutes and were up 17-16 before the Wildcats took the lead for good with a basket at 7:30 of the first half to go up 18-17. That began an 8-0 CSC rally which led to a 31-25 lead at halftime.

Mac netted the first two points of the second half. St. Catherine, however, out-scored the home team 22-4 over the next 10 minutes to boost the margin to a safe 22 points at 53-31 with 8:58 to play.

Macalester returns to action Wednesday (Jan. 24) with a home game against St. Mary’s. The Wildcats play Wednesday at Augsburg.
