Nazareth 74, Coast Guard 59

TAMPA, Fla. — DePauw, ranked 22nd in Division III, shot 67.7 percent in the first half and knocked down 10 threes on the way to a 53-26 halftime lead in a 104-78 victory over Dallas 104-78 in the opening game of the Tampa Bay Shootout.

The Tigers face Hamilton (6-1) in Saturday's 3 p.m. title game after the Continentals defeated Haverford (2-7) 60-51. Dallas and Haverford square off in Saturday's third-place game at 1 p.m.

DePauw, 9-1, jumped out to a 30-10 lead in the first 8:39 of the contest and was never threatened on the way to its eighth straight win. Dallas dropped to 6-4 with the loss.

All five of the Tigers' starters scored in double figures led by Reid Sakel with 18, Mike Moore with 14 and Matt McDonald with 13. Stephen Schott followed with 12 and Austin Brown added 11. Moore led the Tigers with seven assists, while Tony James finished with six. Sakel paced the Tigers with eight rebounds as DePauw held a 48-29 edge on the boards.

Jason Bassett paced the Crusaders with 14 points, while Alex Moorehead added 12 and Kirk Swint totaled 11. Travis Ekmark led Dallas with seven rebounds.

DePauw shot 58.6 percent for the game and hit 12 of 20 three-pointers, while Dallas shot 42.9 percent from the field.

Haverford jumped out to an 11-2 lead in the opening four minutes of the nightcap, but Hamilton scored nine straight to tie the game. The Fords still held a 32-28 lead early in the second half before the Continentals went on a 9-2 run to take the lead for good.

Tsakani Ngobeni paced Hamilton with 15 points and eight rebounds as the Continentals held a 34-31 edge on the boards. Ray Brown led Haverford with 13 points, while David Nowacki added 12. Each grabbed team highs of six rebounds.
