Salem State 78, Eastern Connecticut 66

ALPINE, TX — The 10th-ranked Mississippi College Choctaws (10-1, 7-0 ASC) held Sul Ross State (3-7, 3-4) to a season low point total in a 69-39 win over the Lobos in Alpine, TX.

The Lobos entered the game as the ASC's second leading three-point shooting team but were held to the lowest point total in the American Southwest Conference this season by a stingy Choctaw defense.

The Choctaws continued their good play building a 37-16 lead at halftime knocking down 16-28 shots and 4-5 three point attempts.

MC was led by senior guard Gene Hunt who came off the bench to score a season high 16 points knocking down four three-pointers. D. J. Jones finished with 13 points, Marcus Evans 12 points and Tyler Winford ten points.

Sul Ross State was led by Larry Reese who finished with 14 points and five rebounds. Travis Johnson added seven points and eight rebounds.
