HARRISONBURG, Va. — Junior Ben Strong scored 29 points and added 16 rebounds, both game highs, in Guilford's 84-75 Old Dominion Athleic Conference (ODAC) win at Eastern Mennonite Sunday afternoon. The Quakers' fifth straight win gave them a sweep of the season series with the Royals and raised their record to 19-3, Guilford's best 22-game standard since 1974-75.

Strong, a 6-11 center, had 12 points and 11 boards at halftime. Guilford erased an early five-point deficit with a 12-0 run capped by a Caleb Kimbrough three-pointer with 7:32 left in the half. The Quakers held a 37-25 halftime lead.

Guilford built its advantage to 18 points in the second half, but the Royals rallied to within five points thanks to an 18-6 spurt midway through the period that included a pair of three-pointers by John Overstreet.

Behind Strong and Snipes, Guilford restored its lead to 11 points, but the Royals twice whittled the margin to six points. Jered Lyons' three-pointer with 1:21 remaining made it a 80-74 game, but the Royals managed just one point the rest of the way.

Strong scored a season-high 13 points from the free-throw line in 15 attempts, which offset eight-for-20 shooting from the floor. Eric Belkoski managed only two points, but grabbed eight rebounds to help the Quakers win the battle of the boards, 47-34. Thomas Burge finished with eight points, four boards and four assists.

Jason Sager paced three Royals in double-figure scoring with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Lyons finished with 16 points thanks to a game-high four three-pointers. Overstreet added 13 points and seven boards off the bench. Eastern Mennonite's bench outscored its Guilford counterparts, 38-21.

The Quakers close their home schedule Wednesday night against Washington and Lee at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Mennonite visits Randolph-Macon Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
