Sherman, Texas — Dallas Hits Game-Winner With 1.1 Seconds

University of Dallas hit a fade-away jumper with 1.1 seconds left in the game to hand the University of the Ozarks men’s basketball team a 86-85 loss in the Austin College Tournament on Saturday in Sherman, Texas.

The spoiler came on a 15-foot jumper that gave the Crusaders the win after the Eagles (0-2, 0-0) held a 7-point lead with less than two minutes remaining. Ozarks did have a shot from the three-point line in the end, but it rimmed out as time expired.

The Eagles trailed at halftime, 46-42, but stormed back to take the lead in the second half on a Martel Broughton free throw with 12:44 remaining. The Eagles then clung to the lead for the next two minutes before University of Dallas tied the game. Ozarks had trouble slowing down the Crusaders who hit 61 percent of their shots from the field in the game. The Eagles, however, hit 46 percent from the field.

Ozarks was led by Ted Beard’s 22 points. Chris Clark added 16 points and Habeeb Kareem chipped in with 14 points. Kareem had a team-best 6 rebounds.
