GREENVILLE, Pa. — The Grove City College men's basketball team is 5-8 overall and 0-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference after suffering a 71-57 setback at PAC rival Thiel Wednesday night at Rissell-Beeghly Gymnasia.

Grove City led 35-28 at the half and quickly extended the lead to 39-28 early in the second half. However, Thiel stormed back to take the lead for good with a 19-3 blitz in the second half. Grove City shot just 28 percent (7 of 25) from the floor in the second half after posting a 10-for-16 shooting effort in the first half.

Sophomore guard Ryan Gibson and junior guard Ryan Gerber each led Grove City with 10 points. Junior guard Shawn Carr added eight points and a team-high eight rebounds. Thiel out-rebounded Grove City, 35-24. Thiel also forced Grove City to commit 17 turnovers.

Thiel jumped out to a 9-0 lead before Grove City answered. The Wolverines took a 20-17 lead with 8:34 left in the half on a three-point play by sophomore guard Joe McCoy. A Gerber jumper moments later capped the Wolverines' 24-8 run.

Joe Herrmann led Thiel (5-7, 2-1) with 23 points and 13 rebounds.

Grove City will host Saint Vincent Saturday at 3 p.m.
