ASHLAND, VA — Behind 23 points from Lindsay Riesbeck and a career-high 22 points from Amanda Hiltunen, the Randolph-Macon College Yellow Jackets scored a 70-65 home win over ODAC foe Bridgewater College Tuesday night in women’s basketball action.

After Merkel opened the scoring with the first two points of the contest, BC went on a 10-0 run to open up an early eight point lead.
With Bridgewater up 15-6, R-MC went on a 14-2 run, and took the lead when Riesbeck converted a lay up with 7:04 left in the first-half.

The Yellow Jackets built their lead to five points at 26-21 when Riesbeck hit a lay up with 24 seconds left in the opening period. A lay up by Jessica Timberlake on Bridgewater’s next possession gave R-MC a 26-23 lead heading into the locker room.

BC came out in the second-half and scored the first four points to take the lead 27-26. A lay up by Salem Shaffer on the Yellow Jackets next possession put R-MC back on top 28-27 with 19:13 left in the game.

The game remained close throughout the second-half with both teams holding the lead at different points but neither managed to muster more than a four point advantage.

With BC up 45-44, Hiltunen nailed a three-pointer with 7:14 remaining that gave the Jackets the lead for good. R-MC found its self up by seven at 58-51 when Hiltunen sank a lay up with 4:12 on the clock.

Bridgewater battled back and managed to cut the Yellow Jacket’s lead to 62-59 when Rebecca Henderson made a jumper with 55 seconds remaining, but that proved to be as close as BC would get as R-MC connected on eight consecutive free-throws down the stretch to seal the win.

Randolph-Macon will be back in action on Friday when it hosts Guilford College at 7:00 p.m. in an ODAC tilt. Bridgewater will next face Lynchburg College at home on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
