ASHLAND, VA — Randolph-Macon College picked up its eighth win in a row as the Yellow Jackets downed visiting Guilford College 71-43 behind 20 points from Amanda Hiltunen and Lindsay Riesbeck Friday night in ODAC Women’s Basketball Action in Ashland. The win also marks the 395th career victory for R-MC head coach Carroll LaHaye who continues to close in on the 400 win milestone.

R-MC improves its record to 13-3 overall and 10-2 in league play and the Jackets have now won 10 of their last 11 games. Hiltunen connected on five-of-six three-pointers on her way to the 2O point mark. Riesbeck shot 10-of-20, had six rebounds to go along with four blocks in the win. Molly Ariail chipped in with 12 points and six rebounds on the night, while Salem Shaffer pulled down a team-high eight boards.

Guilford drops to 7-11 overall and 6-7 in the ODAC with the loss. The Quakers shot just 28 percent (14-of-50) on the night and committed 34 turnovers. Tracy Croner led the way for GC with 14 points, while Jocelyn Terry had 12 points of her own. Alexa Williams pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds in a losing effort.

With R-MC leading 14-10 with just over 11 minutes left in the first-half, the Yellow Jackets went on a 12-0 run that was capped off by a jumper from Ariail that gave the Jackets a 26-10 advantage with 5:07 on the clock.

R-MC extended its lead to 21 points when Riesbeck canned a jumper with 54 seconds left in the half. Croner hit a jumper on the other end to cut the Yellow Jacket advantage to 35-16 at the intermission.

Randolph-Macon opened up the second-half by outscoring GC 14-2 in the first 4:10 of the period with eight of those points coming from Hiltunen.

After a Salem Shaffer jumper capped off the early run by R-MC, GC mounted a run of its own, out scoring R-MC 13-2 and cut the lead to 51-31 when Katie Dailey knocked down a three-pointer with 11:34 remaining in the game.

R-MC responded by scoring 11 of the next 17 points to take a 62-37 advantage and put the game out of reach.

The Yellow Jackets will be back in action when they host ODAC rival Emory & Henry at 4:30 on Saturday. Guilford will travel to Virginia Wesleyan for a 4:00 tip-off on Saturday.
