Thurston hit 5-of-8 field goal attempts in the game, recorded four rebounds, added an assist, a steal and three blocks, all in only 20 minutes on the court, as head coach Stephany Dunmyer utilized the team's depth.
VWC is now 9-1 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference and 12-3 overall, the latter the second best start in program history. Lynchburg fell to 2-11 overall and to 2-6 in the league.
Lynchburg was hindered by VWC's pressing defense throughout the first half and managed only six points in the first 12 minutes of competition. VWC led 36-20 at halftime.
The Hornets' Caroline Wesley led all scoring with 14 points. She was also one of three Hornets to pull down a game-high seven rebounds each.
