UWP led 38-27 at the half and the Falcons outscored the Pioneers, 39-32, in the second half. But it wasn't enough as UWP went 4-4 from the line in the last 11 seconds of the game to secure the win.
Nate Robertson led the Falcons with a double-double finishing with 20 points and 10 rebounds. He had three assists, two blocks and two steals. Jontae Kookaew came off the bench to score 11 points. Ryan Thompson finished with 10 points. UWRF shot an excellent 25-46 (.543) from the field, including 4-10 (.400) from three-point range. The Falcons were 12-15 (.800) from the line.
Curt Hanson came off the Pioneer bench to lead his team in scoring with 12 points. Kyle Tetschlag and Jeff Skemp both scored 11. The Pioneers got balanced scoring with seven players scoring at least seven points each. UWP also had balance in rebounding with four players finishing with at least four rebounds. Tetschlag, Skemp and Mark Gossens each had five and Luke Stotmeister had four. UWP shot 24-50 (.480) from the floor, including 5-15 (.333) from behind the arc. UWP was 17-21 (.810) form the line. UWP had a slight, 27-26, advantage in rebounding.
UWRF built an 11-5 lead to start the game. But UWP, now 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the WIAC, tied the game, 11-11 when Stotmeister scored on a lay up with 13:11 to play. There were four ties in the first half, the last was 25-25 with 6:21 to play. UWP scored the next seven points and made it an 11 point game at the half when Mike Jamerson hit a three with three seconds to play. The Falcons climbed back into it and tied the game, 43-43, with 12:48 to play when Robertson scored on a lay up. UWRF pulled to within two three times in the last :48, but Charlie Lohoff, who scored nine points, was 4-4 from the line in the last 11 seconds. He finished 5-6 at the line.
