SUPERiOR, Wis. — UW-Stevens Point matched a school record with its 15th conference win and also finished undefeated in eight league road games for the first time with a 103-64 victory at UW-Superior in Saturday’s regular season finale.

The Pointers enter the postseason with a 22-2 overall record and 15-1 mark in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UW-Stevens Point also won 15 league games in 1982-83 and 1991-92. The Pointers are just the fourth team over the past 35 years to defeat every WIAC team on its home floor, joining UW-Platteville in 1997-98 and 1994-95 and UW-Eau Claire in 1979-80. It is the first time the Pointers have finished undefeated on the road since the league began playing eight away games.

UW-Stevens Point used an early 15-point run to pull away from a 17-15 lead as Jon Krull scored five straight points to start the run and Steve Hicklin hit two three-pointers during the spurt.

The Pointers led 51-28 at halftime and UW-Superior came no closer than 21 points the rest of the game. UW-Stevens Point led by as many as 43 points and reached the 100-point mark for the third time this season. It also matched the point total in the first meeting between the teams when the Pointers beat the Yellowjackets 103-45.

Jon Krull led the Pointers with 25 points and six rebounds as UW-Stevens Point shot 51.7 percent from the field. Steve Hicklin scored 20 points and was four-for-seven from three-point range as the Pointers finished 14-for-32 from behind the arc. Khalifa El-Amin added nine assists with no turnovers to lead a Pointers’ offense that had 27 assists against just seven turnovers. UW-Stevens Point also held a 47-30 rebounding advantage.

Dwight Hill had 18 points and Leonard Cobb added 16 points to lead the Yellowjackets, who finished the season 7-18 overall and 2-14 in the WIAC.
