ORONO, Maine — Facing undoubtedly its stiffest competition of the season, the UMF men’s basketball team fell, 75-34 , to Division I opponent UMaine tonight in front of 1,453 fans at Memorial Gymnasium in Orono. After jumping out to an 11-6 lead three minutes into the game, the Beavers scored just six more first half points as the Black Bears built a 48-17 lead at the break on their way to victory.
Isaac Hutchinson led the Beavers with 13 points, while Josh Tanguay added seven points and grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds. Matt St. John also added seven points for Farmington, which shot just 23.2% from the field.
Junior Bernal led the Black Bears in scoring with 14 points, while Kevin Reed added 13 and Chris Bruff rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points.
