It is UW-L's largest winning margin over UW-Eau Claire since a 65-47 victory during the 1986-87 season.
UW-L led 19-12 in the first half with 8:48 remaining before UW-Eau Claire went on a 8-0 run to take a 20-19 lead with 6:14 left. The Eagles then went on a 9-3 run to lead 28-23 before taking a 33-28 halftime lead.
The Eagles led 46-33 with 11:45 remaining in the game after a 13-5 run to start the half, but the Blugolds cut the deficit to six at 48-42 with 9:33 left. UW-L then scored the game's next six points as Abby Johnson scored on a layup and Ashley Wagner made two jumpers for a 54-42 with 7:41 remaining. UW-Eau Claire could get no closer than eight points with 6:26 left as UW-L made six-of-nine free throws in the final 6:05.
Wagner tied her career-high with 17 points for UW-L, finishing seven-of-12 from the field. She also finished with five rebounds and four assists. Mackenzie Hunter added 14 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals while Johnson had 10 points and three rebounds.
Katy Searing finished with six points and 10 rebounds.
UW-L shot 48.9% from the field, including 60.0% (12-of-20) in the second half. The Eagles were two-of-nine (22.2%) from three-point range in the game and 22-of-28 (78.6%) at the free throw line. UW-L held a 22-7 scoring advantage at the free throw line. The Eagles also had 28 free throw attempts to the Blugolds' nine.
Amanda Zenner led UW-Eau Claire with 11 points, 11 rebounds, four steals and two assists. The Blugolds shot 30.4% from the field, including 13.3% (two-of-15) from three-point range. UW-Eau Claire was seven-of-nine (77.8%) at the line.
